Frequently asked questions

What does the United States Padel Association do?▾
The United States Padel Association (USPA) is the national governing body for padel in the United States. It is responsible for setting the official rules of the game, sanctioning tournaments, maintaining a national ranking system, training and certifying coaches and referees, promoting the sport, and representing the US within the International Padel Federation.
How many clubs are affiliated with the USPA?▾
As of early 2025, the USPA has 47 affiliated clubs across the United States, with new venues joining each month. Affiliated clubs must meet standards for court quality, safety, and coaching provision. A full list of affiliated clubs is available on the USPA website.
How does the USPA ranking system work?▾
The USPA uses a points-based ranking system for both singles and doubles. Players earn points based on their performance in USPA-sanctioned tournaments, with more points awarded for higher-level events and deeper runs. Rankings are updated weekly and determine seeding for national events.
What tournaments does the USPA organise?▾
The USPA sanctions a range of tournaments including local open tournaments, regional championships, and the annual US National Padel Championships. In 2024, it hosted 24 sanctioned events. The USPA also selects and sends teams to international competitions such as the Padel World Cup.
How can I join or get involved with the USPA?▾
Anyone can join the USPA as a member. Individual membership costs $50 per year for adults and $25 for juniors and students. Benefits include a player profile, ranking eligibility, and discounts on tournament entry fees. Clubs can apply for affiliation through the USPA website, and individuals can register as players, coaches, or referees.

The United States Padel Association is the governing body for padel in its region, responsible for setting the official rules, organising national tournaments, and maintaining the player and club ranking systems. Founded in 2019, the USPA has grown to oversee 47 affiliated clubs and over 1,200 registered players across 30 states.

The association works closely with the International Padel Federation to develop the sport at grassroots and elite levels, offering coaching qualifications, junior programmes, and a structured pathway from local leagues to national championships. Its primary goal is to raise awareness and participation in padel throughout the United States.
