Italian Federation of Tennis and Padel (FITP) is the governing body for padel in Italy, overseeing the sport's development, regulation, and promotion across the country. Founded in 2022 as part of the merger between the Italian Tennis Federation and the Padel Federation, FITP now manages over 1,200 affiliated clubs and 60,000 registered players, making it one of Europe's largest padel communities.

FITP organises the national ranking system, sanctions official tournaments such as the Serie A and Serie B leagues, and coordinates international participation through the International Padel Federation (FIP). The federation also handles coach and referee certification, junior development programmes, and venue licensing. Whether you're a player, club owner, or enthusiast, FITP is your first point of contact for all things padel in Italy.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Italian Federation of Tennis and Padel (FITP)?▾
The Italian Federation of Tennis and Padel (FITP) is the national governing body for padel and tennis in Italy. It oversees the organisation of tournaments, maintenance of player rankings, licensing of clubs and coaches, and promotion of the sport at all levels. FITP was formed in 2022 by merging the Italian Tennis Federation and the Italian Padel Federation.
How many padel clubs are affiliated with FITP?▾
As of 2025, FITP has over 1,200 affiliated padel clubs across Italy, ranging from small local facilities to large sports centres. These clubs account for more than 6,000 padel courts nationwide. Affiliated clubs must meet FITP standards for court dimensions, safety, and coaching qualifications.
What is the FITP padel ranking system?▾
FITP maintains a national ranking system for padel players based on performance in sanctioned tournaments. Rankings are calculated using a points system that rewards wins in higher-category events. Separate rankings exist for men, women, and age categories (U16, U18, +40, etc.). Players earn points that determine their seeding and eligibility for elite competitions.
What major padel tournaments does FITP organise?▾
FITP organises the Italian Padel Championship (Campione Italiano), the Serie A and Serie B national league competitions, and the FITP Tour – a circuit of open tournaments across the country. It also selects national teams for the FIP World Championships and European Championships.
How can I join or register with FITP as a player?▾
To join FITP as a player, you must first become a member of an affiliated club. The club will register you with FITP, which costs approximately €30 per year. You will receive a membership card and a personal code to participate in tournaments and access the ranking system. Non-Italian residents can also register if they play regularly in Italy.
